City Of London Corporation Central Grants Programme - Stronger Communities

Background

The City of London Corporation offers the Stronger Communities Fund as part of its Central Grants programme. The funding is intended to support projects or services that are delivered for the benefit of communities within the City of London, also known as the Square Mile, and the residents of one of the 12 housing estates managed by the Corporation in the City and across London.

Objectives of Fund

The aim of the fund is to support projects or services that are delivered for the benefit of communities within the City of London as well as for the residents of the 12 housing estates managed by the Corporation in the City and across London.

Grants are available under the following themes:

  • Developing stronger neighborhoods and communities.
  • Promoting community health and wellbeing.

Value Notes

There are two levels of grant funding:

  • Main Grants - up to £10,000
  • Small Grants - £500 to £3,000

Grants of up to £20,000 will be considered in exceptional circumstances if the project takes place over a two-year period.

Who Can Apply

Applications are accepted from:

  • Registered charities.
  • Registered Community Interest Companies.
  • Registered Charitable Incorporated Organisations.
  • Charitable companies (incorporated as a not-for-profit).
  • Exempt or excepted charities.
  • Registered charitable industrial and provident societies or charitable Cooperatives (Bencom).
  • Constituted voluntary organisations.

Location

City of London and/or the City of London Corporation's Housing Estates across London.

Eligible Expenditure

Funding is available for projects or services that are being delivered for the benefit of communities or beneficiaries within the City of London and/or the City of London Corporation's Housing Estates across London.

Applications must address one or more of the following sub-themes:

Developing stronger neighbourhoods and communities

  • Support for local community-based projects within the City of London and its Housing estates across London.
  • Projects should enable more people to become involved in their communities and encourage a broader understanding of the diverse needs of these communities.
  • Projects may either promote a higher take up of existing projects or services or encourage new and innovative ones.

Promoting community health and wellbeing

  • Support for activities that contribute to the health and wellbeing of communities.
  • Projects should demonstrate positive outcomes that address the Health and Wellbeing priorities set out in the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (details of which can be found on the City of London Corporation website).

King's Coronation (small grants only)

  • Funding to allow community groups to put on events, activities or parties to celebrate the King's Coronation.

May 2023 Update:

The Central Grants Unit is switching to new grant management software during May and June 2023 and is unable to receive new funding applications through its online portal.

More information will be published when it becomes available.

Applications are accepted at any time and are assessed on a rolling basis.
