Emerton-Christie Charity
Objectives of Fund
The Emerton-Christie Charity, a very small grant-making trust, provides a small amount of money each year to charities based and working within the UK. While the trustees may select beneficiaries at their discretion, they tend to focus on the following:
- Education and training.
- The advancement of health or saving of lives.
- Disability
- Arts, culture, heritage, environment, conservation and science.
Value Notes
Funding is at the discretion of the Trustees and depends each year on the income from the Charity's investments. In 2021, one grant of £10,000 was awarded to one organisation. The previous year, some 30 grants were awarded, and these ranged from £1,000 to £3,000 with most being for 2,000.
Who Can Apply
All UK registered charities may apply.
Restrictions
The following are not eligible for funding:
- Individuals
- Organisations that are not registered as UK charities.
Eligible Expenditure
Last year, the funding benefitted the disadvantaged, the arts or recognised health charities. The funding can be used for core costs.
How To Apply
There is no standard application form. Groups should send an email to the EC Charity, setting out who they are, what they do, and the funding for which they are applying. There is no need for charities to send their accounts, but they may send attachments that they think are relevant to their funding request.
Applications can be made at any time. However, as the trustees meet annually, generally in the Autumn, the appeals should be submitted ideally by the end of August.
The EC Charity will only contact successful applicants. Groups that are not successful one year may reapply the following year.
