Ford Britain Trust

Objectives of Fund

The Ford Britain Trust was created for the advancement of education and other charitable purposes beneficial to the community.

The funding is intended to support projects which benefit the local community and environment, children and young people, mainstream schools and education, special needs education and people with disabilities.

Projects can take place anywhere in Great Britain; however, locations near Ford Motor Company Limited / FCE Bank plc UK operations are given a higher weighting:

  • Dagenham, Warley and Dunton in Essex.
  • Southampton.
  • Daventry.
  • Manchester and Halewood.
  • Bridgend, South Wales

Value Notes

The following levels of funding are available:

  • Small Grants of between £1 and £250.
  • Large Grants of between £251 and £3,000.

Who Can Apply

The following organisations are eligible to apply:

  • Registered charities.
  • Schools and PTAs (Non-fee paying, state sector schools only).
  • Non-profit organisations, including small clubs and societies.

Applications will be considered for projects being undertaken/expenditure being made in all UK postcodes; however, locations near Ford Motor Company Limited / FCE Bank plc UK operations are given a higher weighting:

  • Essex (including East London)
  • Bridgend (South Wales)
  • Southampton
  • Daventry
  • Manchester
  • Liverpool

Applications can be made by Ford Motor Company Limited / FCE Bank plc, employees or pensioners, or requests for funding towards projects in which they are involved or will benefit from.

Organisations may reapply one year following receipt of a small grant and three years following receipt of a large grant.

Location

GB with preference for Essex, including East London, Southampton, Daventry, Manchester, Liverpool, and Bridgend (South Wales).

Restrictions

Funding is not available for the following:

  • Individuals.
  • Community Interest Companies (CICs).
  • Local Authorities, Councils, Government and Government Departments.
  • Independent/private; fee paying schools.
  • Core funding; general running costs.
  • Major building works.
  • Sponsorship or advertising.
  • Research.
  • Overseas projects.
  • Travel.
  • Religious projects.
  • Political projects.
  • Purchase of second-hand vehicles.
  • Third party fundraising initiatives (exceptions may be made for fundraising initiatives by Ford Motor Company Limited employees/retirees.

Eligible Expenditure

The funding is intended to support the following activities:

  • Work that has clear benefits to the local community/environment.
  • Work with young people/children.
  • Education/schools (mainstream).
  • Special education needs.
  • People with disabilities.

The grants can be used for the following purposes:

  • Contributions to capital projects (eg, refurbishments).
  • Capital expenditure items (eg furniture/equipment/computers).
  • Contributions towards the purchase of new Ford vehicles (maximum grant £3,000).

How To Apply

Small grant applications are accepted in three windows each year:

  • 1 April to 30 June for review in July.
  • 1 August to 31 October for review in November.
  • 1 December to 28 February for review in April.

Large grant applications are accepted in two windows each year:

  • 1 March to 31 July for review by the Board of Trustees in September/October.
  • 1 September to 31 January for review by the Board of Trustees in March.

Application forms should be downloaded from the Trust's website and returned by email.

Supporting documentation such as budget submissions, project outlines, quotations for equipment should be submitted with the application, if appropriate.

Copies of the organisation's most recent Report and Accounts should be submitted with all large grant applications.
