Jack Petchey Foundation - Achievement Awards

Background

Jack Petchey was born in July 1925 in the East End of London and rose from a background with very few advantages to become a prominent businessman and property developer. He formed the Jack Petchey Foundation in 1999 which now supports projects in London and Essex.

Objectives of Fund

The Achievement Award Scheme aims to enable schools, colleges and youth organisations to recognise, reward and celebrate the achievements of their young people. Jack Petchey wants young people to raise their aspirations, believe in themselves and make a contribution to their society.

Achievement Awards are designed to recognise a wide range of achievement. It is not just about being clever, or gifted, but about putting the effort in and rewarding those who do their best. The scheme works well because young people themselves are involved in nominating and selecting the winners.

Value Notes

An Achievement Award of £300 per young person which is to be spent on a school, club or community project of the recipient's choice.

Organisations that run the Achievement Award Scheme can also apply for further funding through the Educational Visits Scheme and the Small Grant Programme.
