Jack Petchey Foundation – Educational Visit Grants

Background

Jack Petchey was born in July 1925 in the East End of London and rose from a background with very few advantages to become a prominent businessman and property developer. He formed the Jack Petchey Foundation in 1999 which now supports projects in London and Essex.

Objectives of Fund

This fund aims to support schools and youth organisations with the costs of making visits to museums, theatres, science shows and other educational experiences to help young people to develop a wide range of valuable personal and social skills, as well as providing the chance the learn outside of the classroom.

Value Notes

Grants of up to £1,200 per trip are available.

Who Can Apply

Schools, colleges and non-uniformed organisations that are already running the Foundation’s Achievement Award Scheme can apply.

Groups can apply for up to two grants per year at a maximum of £20 per young person.

SEND schools/organisations, Pupil Referral Units, and Alternative Education Provisions can apply for up to £60 per young person for day trips and £100 per young person for residential trips.

Restrictions

This grant programme is not currently open to uniformed groups.

Eligible Expenditure

Funding can be used to support the costs of experiential learning and educational experiences outside of the traditional classroom environment, such as:

  • UK residentials.
  • Museums.
  • Activity days.
  • Art galleries.
  • Sports museums.
  • Tours to universities.
  • Team building activities.
  • Clue HQ Brentwood.
  • Theatres/plays.
  • Historic castles.
  • Tours of House of Commons/Lords.
  • Twickenham/Wembley Stadium Tour.
  • City Farms/Zoos.
  • Spitalfields/Dockland Museum Tour.
  • Mobile zoo/visiting theatre (special needs groups only).
  • Nature-based trips.
  • Sea life centres.

Funding can be used to cover entrance fees and/or transport costs.

SEND schools/organisations, Pupil Referral Units, or Alternative Education Provisions can also apply for staff costs.

Applications can be submitted at any time.

It is expected that all applications will be assessed within 21 days of the date of submission.
