Mayor of London’s Sport Unites Fund Opens for Applications

The new Sport Unites Fund will support community sport projects across Greater London that take place between summer 2021 and June 2022 that address either of the following two strands:

  • New Ideas grants of up to £10,000 will support community sport projects testing new and exciting ideas and/or groups that have not received funding previously and would benefit from investment and support.
  • Tried and Tested grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 are for successful existing initiatives looking to expand their work.

The funding is intended to support projects using physical activity and sport to address at least one of the following five priorities:

  • Helping the most inactive people be more active
  • Improving people’s mental health and wellbeing
  • Decreasing isolation/loneliness
  • Strengthening connections in your local area and across communities
  • Reducing serious youth violence

The grants will cover costs directly related to projects including staffing costs, equipment purchase and hire, transport to and from the venue, refreshment, marketing information and a contribution to overhead.

Applicants are encouraged to bring in an additional 20% (approximately) of the total award requested. This might be cash support or non-cash support.

Groups should aim to have their project delivered within a six week to six-month time frame.

The fund is expected to stay open until at least 12 November 2021.
