Origin Housing - Community Fund

Background

Origin Housing is a registered social landlord that manages over 7,000 homes across North London and Hertfordshire.

Objectives of Fund

This fund aims to invest in a variety of projects that make a difference in local communities and have a direct positive impact on Origin Housing residents.

Value Notes

Two levels of funding are available:

  • Community Fund Grants of up to £2,000 for Origin resident groups, VSCE organisations, and not-for-profit groups.
  • Resident Community Fund Grants of up to £500 for Origin residents and resident groups.

Who Can Apply

The following can apply:

  • Origin Housing resident groups.
  • Local voluntary and community groups.
  • Charities.
  • Social enterprises.
  • Not-for-profit organisations.
  • Individual residents (if they provide evidence that other residents will be involved and that the project is inclusive).

Projects must be delivered within one mile of Origin Housing properties and engage Origin residents through targeted promotion.

Applicants must have the following:

  • A governing document.
  • Public liability insurance.
  • Evidence that all staff and practitioners are DBS checked.
  • Risk assessment.
  • Quotes to support any expenditure.
  • An organisational bank account.

Location

North London and Hertfordshire where Origin Housing operates (priority will be given to Camden, Enfield, Stevenage, Watford, Barnet, Brent, Islington, and Harrow).

Eligible Expenditure

Funding is for projects and activities that address a need in local communities and benefit Origin Housing Residents.

Preference will be given to projects that achieve one or more of the following priorities:

  • Supporting families – community events, youth projects, and arts activities.
  • Increase financial resilience – helping people become more confident about managing money, debt management, and maximising their income.
  • Support physical and mental wellbeing – tackling social isolation amongst older residents and/or others in the community affected by loneliness.
  • Employment and skills – accessing training, work experience, local enterprises, and start-ups.
  • Race and equality – tackling inequalities, promoting, and celebrating diversity within local communities.
  • Investment in community safety – projects that contribute to tackling climate change, such as gardening, tree growing, or other safety concerns.

Proposed projects should demonstrate how they will engage and have a direct impact on Origin Housing residents.

Any monies awarded must be spent within six months of the date of receipt.

Applications can be submitted at any time and are reviewed monthly.

Applications will receive a decision within two calendar months.
