About Organisation

Scarabeus Aerial Theatre produces pioneering outdoor and indoor performances fusing aerial skills with visual theatre and choreographed movement in site-specific, immersive and touring performances. We create spectacular thought provoking and unforgettable productions and participation projects dealing with contemporary narratives aimed at awakening empathy, ethical and political consciousness in our wide range of audiences.

Our vision
Create transformative theatre accessible to a wide range of audiences including those who do not often attend the theatre.

Our mission
-Be artistically adventurous, push boundaries and nurture creativity and innovation.
-Challenge and connect with our audiences through bold, inspiring aerial performances that interpret urgent contemporary issues.
-Increase self-confidence and encourage a positive sense of community among children, young people and families.

Our educational and community programmes are key to our artistic identity. We believe in the power of the arts and culture to transform the lives of children, young people and their families. Making art is a political act, and everyone should be offered the tools to contribute.

Over the last 28 years we have run a dynamic programme of educational projects, working with up to 900 children and families annually across London and nationally, on creative projects that improve the lives of disadvantaged children, young people and families in challenging community settings. Working with local authorities, schools and other agencies we provide free services to ensure they are accessible to those that will benefit from them the most.
