What

Papatango Theatre Company is running free playwriting workshops for Key Stage 3 and 4 students at state schools in Camden. Designed to give students a taste of both playwriting and professional theatre-making, our Writing a Monologue programme not only complements the curriculum but also encourages creative thinking and confidence, empowering young people to tell their own stories. Students write their own short monologues using a variety of playwriting and devising techniques, have their plays published as printed playtexts with a copy for each student, and see their plays performed in a rehearsed reading on screen by a cast of professional actors. The workshops are led by award-winning playwrights with a passion for sharing their experience and knowledge with young people. We provide a comprehensive Teacher Toolkit in advance, which includes lesson plans, student worksheets and other supporting materials. We also offer teachers a 1-2-1 meeting with our Education Officer to explore other drama resources for your school. Sessions are currently delivered live online via Zoom (or a similar platform) with full digital safeguarding procedures in place. We hope to resume face-to-face delivery in autumn / winter 2021.
