Sessional Youth Worker
JOB
DESCRIPTION
Purpose: To
lead, plan, prepare and deliver regular sessions of youth work at TETH YOUTH
CLUB,
supporting and
helping to develop projects that help young people develop positive skills
and
characteristics towards realising their potential and contributing positively
to the
community.
Hours: To be
agreed. Regular hours, after-school/evening, 42 week contract
Pay: £10.00
per hour. 4 weeks holiday (pro-rata)

Main
Functions:
• Lead the
delivery of sessions of youth work, identifying and engaging with marginalized
and
disaffected
young people working through the various stages of identified youth work
models.
• Ensure
planning of individual sessions, gathering resources and ensuring the team know
roles
and
responsibilities.
• Ensure
termly planning happens to offer a broad range of activities and themes that
are
appropriate to
the young people being worked with.
• Build
positive relationships with young people attending sessions with a view to
supporting
them in their
personal and skills development.
• Work one to
one with young people where necessary.
• Be attentive
to the safeguarding needs of young people and take prompt and appropriate
action when
needed.
• Lead the
team in reflecting on practice through debrief of sessions.
• Ensure that
sessions are fully recorded on Lamplight database system.
Other
Responsibilities:
• Ensure that
all relevant TETH YOUTH Club policies are implemented throughout any work
carried out with particular attention to the Health and Safety policy and Child
Protection policy.
• Support
volunteers in developing their skills and contribution the sessions.
• Meet
regularly with Line Manager for formal supervision and support.
• Contribute
reports about work as necessary for the Trustees and external funders.
• Undertake
training in Safeguarding, First Aid and other relevant topics as necessary.
• Contribute to
the positive development of TETH YOUTH Club as a charity meeting the needs of
children and young people in Brent. This might include contributing to
strategy, fundraising and community engagement.
• Participate
in activities offered by StreetGames, Young Brent Foundation, Sported, London
sport, our strategic partner.
• Complete other tasks appropriate to the post as deemed
necessary by the Line Manager
