Sectional Assistant (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Explorers)

Scouting in Harrow is exploding, every week we have more young people knocking on the doors of Scouts Huts all over Harrow.
To cope with demand we need motivated individuals who want to make a difference and join the adventure. Can you help inspire?

Scouting is all about having fun, making friends, learning new skills and the adventure of trying exciting outdoor activities!
We run four mixed age groups, Beaver Scouts (aged 6 to 8yrs), Cubs (aged 8 to 10yrs), Scouts (aged 10 to 14yrs and Explorers Scouts (aged 14 to 18)

There are 13 groups, each running at least 3 aged sections across Harrow. Theses groups are bubbling with excitement and energy.

What's involved?
All our Sectional Assistant & Leadership roles involves working with small leadership teams to enable the delivery of an exciting programme for the section members, with many outdoor opportunities. You will not only benefit from supporting young people, but also from gaining new skills and developing yourself. All of which apply to your everyday working life.
What are we looking for?
You don't need to know anything about scouting to get involved - but you do need enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved help provide great programmes to the young people in the section.
We provide an induction, lots of ongoing support and training which can result in external recognition with:
• The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)
• The Institute of Training and Occupational Learning (ITOL)
• Gateway Qualifications
These awards are recognised by many external organisations, bodies and employers, making them a great addition to your volunteering experience and your CV.

You can choose to volunteer with us once a week, twice a month or once a year – in the thick of activities with young people or behind the scenes in management, executive or support roles.
