Type of contract: Fixed-Term
Salary: £21,840 per annum (35 hours a week)
Holidays entitlement: 30 days (includes Bank Holidays)

Working hours will be as follows (including 1h unpaid break):
Tuesdays: 11:00 – 19:00
Wednesdays: 11:00 – 19:00

Saturdays: 11:00 – 19:00

1. About SPID
SPID Theatre is a registered charity based in the community rooms of the historic modernist social housing estate of Kensal House. SPID uses interactive, immersive techniques to create accessible participatory work that happens off stage and up close in estates, community spaces and parks.
We work with young people on social housing estates to create community art and performance that is participatory, adventurous and interactive.
We advocate for the investment and restoration of the social housing estates that are the stage and inspiration of our performances.
Our promenade performances in neglected community spaces have won prizes nationally and we are proud to champion this popular and accessible form of theatre as a means to strengthen local communities.
We endeavour to always involve local residents in the research, creation and performance of our shows and encourage young people that live in and around social housing estates to get involved.
SPID key projects are:
Estate Endz: free multi-discipline workshops aimed at 13 to 25 year olds that explore the heritage of a local area, shared community spaces, social housing and voices of residents to create theatre, film, radio, etc.
Far Far Away: series of free creative workshops aimed at 8 to 13 year olds taking place each Tuesday after school (during school terms).
Estate Voices: free workshops and talks from local and/or London organisations and experts with the aim to empower the community aimed at 18+ year olds.
SPID on the WEB: remote mode of the projects Estate Endz, Far Far Away and Estate Voices, including performances (all activities happen on Zoom).
2. About the Role
SPID Theatre is looking for a committed Community Producer and Outreach Officer. This role will report to the Marketing and Outreach Manager and is responsible for coordinating the freelance production team for SPID shows and events. This role is based in Kensal House (W10 5BQ) in Ladbroke Grove, however due to the Covid restrictions this role is currently remote.
Production Responsibilities:
Produce SPID events, shows and performances, some of them online (part of the SPID on the WEB project). SPID events, shows and performances include but are not limited to: Estate Endz final show (including film premiere, film making, theatre performance, radio play, spoken word), SPID Panels and Webinars, Awards events and trips, Community events.
Liaising with the Community Coordinator regarding shows, events and productions
Oversee DBS checks of the volunteers and freelance team hired
Administrate all aspects of the role, including filing and record keeping and reporting as required, sending a summary of the daily activities to the Marketing and Outreach Manager and the Head of Youth
Be point of contact for freelancers that are part of the performance, show, panel or event
Attend and share responsibility for chairing team production meetings when necessary
Liaise with Head of Youth to ensure that any new shows or events being developed and creative ideas shared are staying true to SPID’s mission and ethos
Attend a weekly team meeting
Attend project evaluation sessions
Participate in staff feedback sessions at the end of each project block
Be prepared to work some evenings and weekends when required e.g. to attend a local event
Be prepared to work with online projects and remotely
Be part of the workshops sessions and process with young people from the beginning until the end of the project blocks
Shows and Events Responsibilities:
Oversee marketing of the performances, to attract the maximum audience according to the project
Liaising with the internal administration in the operational management of production
Venue, costume, and equipment hire for the production
Firm up location/s for performances/workshops for EE & EV
Be the main point of contact for enquiries relating to the production
Be responsible for appointing and giving responsibilities to the freelance production team hired for shows or events
Be responsible for ensuring that the performance, show, panel or event is fulfilled within a strict budget
Ensure all invoices are received by the project administrator and payment made
Ensure that PRS and music royalties are managed
Outreach Responsibilities:
Ensure that marketing and press campaigns reflect the artistic vision for the show
Oversee the design, printing and distribution of marketing and publicity materials for the projects, shows and events, liaising with the Marketing and Outreach manager and the Community Coordinator on this
Getting final approval of the design material from the Head of the Youth and if necessary from the Artistic Director
Take responsibility and initiative for outreaching in the wider community in order to ensure attendance targets are achieved and increase visibility of SPID projects
To understand the needs of local community and share these insights with SPID team during planning of projects
Liaise with the Marketing and Outreach Manager on outreaching priorities and plan activities accordingly
Share responsibility for developing and managing key relationships within the local community
Attend outreach activities and local events as needed
Maintain regular contact with local community partners and organisations
Attend and ensure the smooth running of SPID events as required
Over time, to help develop a pool of local contacts for freelancing, volunteering, participating in workshops, holding events, creative collaboration etc…
Continually develop ideas for local projects, collaborations and connections
Work closely with a small team to increase visibility and local engagement across all our programmes
Continually develop ideas for improving the programmes and strengthening community links, sharing ideas with line managers and the wider team
Essential Skills:
Experience of working within community activity programmes
Experience in producing shows and performances
Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop rapport with a wide range of community members and young people.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Proven experience of building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
Due to the nature of this role, a DBS check will be required
Proven experience with remote working
Desirable Skills:
Local knowledge and experience of working within the borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Experience of working on immersive / site-specific theatre
Experience in working with outreach for community projects and marketing strategies
