Objectives of Fund

The Mission of the Trust is to distribute its income in ways which will make a difference, principally by supporting:

• A small number of significant activities to further mathematical and financial education.
• A broad range of charities where members of the livery are involved.
• The Company's presence in the City of London.

Value Notes

Funding is at the discretion of the Trust. Previous grants have been in the range of £190 to £10,000.

Match Funding Restrictions

Match funding is not a specified requirement.

Who Can Apply

UK registered charities are eligible for support. Members of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries should make the application.

The policy of the Trust is to give priority in its donations to charities in which members of the livery or the wider actuarial profession are active.

Eligible Expenditure

The funding is for applications that meet the Trust's objectives which are to:

• Provide grants for the advancement of education of actuaries and others.
• Provide grants for charitable research in the field of actuarial science.
• Award bursaries to students to alleviate financial hardship.
• Award exhibitions at an educational establishment to persons intending to practise the profession of actuary.
• Award prizes in connection with the examinations for actuaries.
• Assist in the general education of persons in disadvantaged circumstances preparing to be actuaries or for other professions.
• Assist and benefit persons who are endeavouring to qualify as actuaries.
• Relieve members of the profession of actuary from poverty.
• Make donations to any registered charity.

The main areas of activity that the Trust is currently supporting are:

• The education of actuaries and research in the field of actuarial science.
• Those studying to become an actuary.
• Mathematical and financial education in schools.
• Any charity where a member of the Actuaries’ Company or another actuary is actively involved.
• Charities within the City of London.

How To Apply

Members of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries are encouraged to apply for support at any time.

There is no application form but the Trustees may be contacted by emailing the Trust.
