John Lyon's Charity
John Lyon’s Charity gives grants to benefit children and young people up to the age of 25 who live in nine boroughs in North and West London: Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Kensington & Chelsea and the Cities of London and Westminster. The Charity distributes around £10-12 million in grants each year.
Main Grants Fund. Out of the seven Grant Funds that are available at John Lyon’s Charity, the Main Grants Fund is undoubtedly the most popular. It delivers many opportunities such as contributions towards salary costs; direct project funding, apprenticeship prospects or general overheads to ensure the lights remain on.
Small Grants Fund. The Small Grants Fund enables organisations to access smaller amounts of funding outside the main Trustee meetings. Requests to the Small Grants Fund are considered at least six times a year and there are no deadlines.
Bursary Fund. We are committed to supporting life-changing bursaries for disadvantaged children and young people at both John Lyon’s Foundation schools (Harrow School and The John Lyon School), as well as at Christ’s Hospital School and independent girls’ day schools that are based in the Beneficial Area.
School Holiday Activity Fund (SHAFs). The School Holiday Activity Fund (SHAF) is designed to enable organisations to deliver fun and accessible activities for children and young people during the school holidays through our School Holiday Activity Fund. This includes all half-term breaks, Easter, Christmas and the summer holiday.
Capacity Building. John Lyon’s Charity believes that all our grantees should have access to high quality Capacity Building opportunities to be able to grow and understand their organisation as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Cultural Capital Fund – Arts Organisations. This exciting Fund is exclusive to schools and Arts organisations. It is designed to ensure that access to high quality Arts activities, delivered by the best Arts practitioners, are accessible to all children across the Beneficial Area. This Fund is about creating opportunities for young people to engage with Arts, particularly those from backgrounds that typically do not engage in cultural activities. More info
