Finance support program - FAQs

Who are Charities Aid Foundation (CAF)?

CAF is a charity dedicated to making philanthropy more effective and helping charities become successful. We’re trusted to manage nearly £1 billion on behalf of charities and donors worldwide, and pass more than £605 million to charities each year, transforming lives and communities around the world.

We work with a wide range of small and medium-sized charities, providing services for their funding, finance, and strategic advice needs.

What is the program about?

The Young Camden Foundation and Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) are working together to try and improve the sustainability of organisations that support children and young people in Camden. CAF will be working with a small group of organisations to support YCF members to develop bespoke fundraising plans to ensure your long term sustainability.

The bespoke support provided by CAF will last around 10 days, over a three-month period. You should be prepared to commit at least three to four days of your time working with CAF and more time to develop and embed the learning.

How can I be part of the programme?

You must be a member of the Young Camden Foundation and you need to be selected for the YCF’s Build Up Fund – Youth Crime Prevention and Organisational Development Grants. The deadline for applying to the Build Up Fund is 10 October 2021.

Only four organisations will be chosen for this programme, but we plan on sharing the learning from this programme with all the other organisations connected to the CYP sector so that as many as possible may be able to develop their resilience.

What happens if your organisation is chosen?

If you are chosen to be part of the programme, then CAF/YCF will contact you directly. This is planned to take place in October.

You will be expected to sign and commit to an agreement to participate before CAF starts to work with you. This will outline what you can expect from us and what we expect from you (see below).

The bespoke process is expected to start in October 2021 and will run for approximately three months.

What does CAF expect from you?

CAF cannot help to develop your resilience without a commitment from you.

  • We need you to have a learning mentality with a commitment to actively participate in a programme designed to support your organisation.
  • We envision the support that CAF provides to each organisation to take around 10 days. However, for you to properly embed the learning in your organisation will take you longer.
  • We will need access to your organisation’s documentation, plans, and strategies that have been developed to date.
  • We will need you to be honest with us about your challenges and difficulties as well as your strengths and opportunities.
  • We also need you to be available in July for the initial kick-off meeting. Exact dates will be agreed upon once you have signed up for the programme.

What happens if your organisation is not chosen?

Unfortunately, due to the likely volume of interest, we will be unable to give feedback to each applicant directly. We will let you know of other opportunities that you may be interested in or may assist you.

What if I have further questions?

If you would like to find out more or have any questions, we recommend you join our Virtual Drop-In session on Wednesday 15 September, from 12.00 m. - 1.00 p.m. where you can have a chat with the Grants and Membership team before starting your application.
