Pascal Theatre Company, supported by the Mayor of London/Groundwork, runs free online exercise classes for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic London women aged 18 upwards. Classes are to improve mental and physical wellbeing. They have been designed to counter feelings of isolation during the pandemic.

Each week, Tom will teach a simple but useful recipe that chefs of any age can make. The classes will last about 45 minutes - but these are recipes that you’ll use for life!

Kooth offers free, safe and anonymous online wellbeing and mental health support

It's now available in Camden for young people aged 11 to 18!

If you live in Camden, you can sign up now for confidential support through a text-based conversation with a qualified counsellor.

You can also join regular online forums and discussion boards with other young people, read articles written by young people and contribute your own article or short story.

Kooth also has fun and easy-to-use tools to enable you to track your moods - what makes you feel relaxed, happy, stressed or upset - and set personal goals.

Counsellors are available from 12noon to 10pm on week days and from 6pm to 10pm at weekends, every day of the year on a drop-in basis. Young people can access regular booked online counselling sessions as needed.

Outside counselling hours, young people can message the Kooth team and get support by the next day.

Angel Shed offers Free Dance Project for girls aged 12-19

This exciting weekly dance project session for girls aged 12-19 are completely free to join. On this 5-week project, participants will experiment with different styles of choreography and performances, as well as getting to meet new people. The workshops will be on Monday evenings, 7.30-8.30pm, starting January 18th.

This project has been designed to support for those who are most impacted by Covid-19. As an inclusive performing arts company Angel Shed are open to all. No experience is necessary,1:1 support for those who require it.

There are only 15 places available and priority will be given for those who have been most at risk of isolation and loneliness during this time - this includes those with a long-standing physical or mental impairment or disability, people from ethnically diverse communities, and those on lower incomes.

The workshops will be on Monday evenings, 7.30-8.30pm, starting January 18th. Sessions will take place on Zoom while lockdown is in place, and then at City and Islington College (444 Camden Rd) if the rules are relaxed.

Free and flexible distance learning courses offered by BCoT's Aspiral Learning team are a great way to build your C.V. and demonstrate your commitment to continued professional development.

Courses across a number of areas, including business courses, health and social care courses, as well as courses for educators(e.g teachers, trainers).

Mental health training in Camden and Islington

Rethink Mental Illness has received funding from Camden and Islington Councils to provide free mental health training to anyone who lives, works, studies or volunteers in the two boroughs until the end of March 2021.

Training for your organisation

As an organisation based in either the London Borough of Camden or Islington you are eligible to claim one Mental health training course for your organisation at no cost to you.

-Half day - Minimum 12 people
-4 live sessions and self led learning over two weeks - Minimum 8 people

Programme Opportunities

  • Rise Up Programme - We are recruiting youth practitioners for our free intensive six-month programme of training, mentoring and coaching to develop youth sector leaders. Read more and apply here.
  • City Leaders Programme - We still have a few spaces left on our flagship social action programme, City Leaders. The aim of the programme is to support and challenge young people to design, lead and learn from their own youth led projects which develop their skills as they transform their clubs and communities. The programme comes with funding of up to £2000. Read more about the programme here. If you would like to talk more about how the programme would work for you this year please contact
  • Employability Programme - Skills Builder have developed a youth organisation version of their framework, resources and assessment. This was developed in partnership with the Future Talent programme, but we are now looking for some extra clubs who are experts in employability to also pilot the tools. In return for support costs and access to a paid tool, we would require you to complete:
  1. 8 weeks
  2. Minimum 10 young people using Skills Builder youth organisation resources and being assessed
  3. 2 Assessments using the HUB (baseline and end)
  4. Attend a training session (18th November or 9th December)
  5. 2 check ins with LY to check progress and receive support
  6. Feedback to LY and Skills Builder at the end of the pilot

Accelerate Progamme for Young People

Open City is recruiting for the 2020/21 Accelerate into University programme, a free out of school learning opportunity for ages 16 to 18, in years 12 and 13, interested in a career in architecture and the built environment industries. The deadline to apply is Friday 30 October.

Accelerate is a pioneering education and mentoring programme aimed at increasing diversity in the built environment profession. It gives students the confidence and skills needed to pursue a career in architecture and other related industries. Through a seven-month programme participants will attend skills development workshops and have the opportunity to have 1 to 1 mentoring with a built environment mentor practice. The programme finishes with an exhibition at a London location. Check out our Accelerate video to find out more.

They are looking to recruit (4) 16 to 18-year olds, in years 12 and 13, who live in Camden, attend a state school and are from under-represented communities. Those interested will need to complete an online application form demonstrating how they meet the criteria and have the support of a teacher or youth worker. Places are limited and in demand.
