Community Leader Programme from KIDSCAPE

In 2020 Kidscape launched the Community Leader Programme. Their vision is that all children are safe from bullying and harm. They believe that the best way to make that happen is to build communities of support with adults and children empowered to take action to stop bullying.

Roundhouse Circles: Free Dance/Movement & Spoken Word Workshop

Roundhouse is offering a free performance workshop for YCF members. The 1.5 hour session is aimed at young people, ages 11-17, who will get to create their own work with other young people using movement, voice, beats and more.

The session will be a chance to get their imagination working again and to work with other young people who are interested in spoken word and dance/performance. The expert team of professional artists will come to you to deliver the socially-distanced creative session in line with current government advice from the National Youth Agency.

National Youth Agency Offers Youth Sector Guidance and Support

The National Youth Agency has developed a 'Readiness Toolkit' - Available Now

The National Youth Agency (NYA), as the Professional Statutory and Regulatory Body for youth work in England, has developed youth sector specific advice and guidance. In consultation with Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive, the guidance supports local providers, leaders, volunteers and young people to remain safe when engaging in youth sector activities. It is intended to guide the youth sector in opening up services for young people at the right pace and time.

This guidance is complementary to government guidance on social distancing, travel and other measures, and it must be used in conjunction with the readiness framework and existing safeguarding policies and procedures. Youth Violence Commission’s Final Report advocates for a public health approach to addressing a youth violence and the implementation of Violence Reduction Units.

Released in July 2020, Youth Violence Commission’s Final Report advocates for a public health approach to addressing a youth violence and the implementation of Violence Reduction Units, such as Catch22’s Wolverhampton VRU. This final report sets recommendations for ensuring that VRUs are successful by calling for long-term funding commitments, effective collaboration and ambitions goals. It also highlights the urgent need to ensure schools and pupil referral units are prepared for the challenges ahead as young people return to education in September.

Camden Youth Theatre Presents Morning Brush Podcast

Morning Brush with Camden Youth Theatre is looking for audio submissions from young people to support their new podcast.

Camden Youth Theatre will be releasing a brand new podcast called Morning Brush with CYT. This programme will be led and hosted by CYT Alumni Renecia Allen and Phoebe Fairchild, who are keen to showcase fresh new voices and talent. Listeners will be able to brush their teeth during their morning routine, while listening to a chat with a featured artist - before hearing their work.

Morning Brush with CYT is looking for audio submissions (no longer than 1 min) from young people, aged 13-19 years old, based in Camden or surrounding areas. They are asking for poetry or monologues being read aloud, extracts of songs, covers or instrumentals, short radio plays, fictional adverts or fictional trailers.

The Morning Brush team will be shortlisting 6 or more submissions for series one. Winners will have an episode dedicated to them in their name, be interviewed by the hosts, have their work heard by professional artists and industry professionals and showcased in their episode on leading platforms Spotify and Apple. Academy Mews Studio Offers Youth Residency for Artists

Academy Mews Studio is offering a youth residency for artists ages 16 to 24-years old. The application deadline is 31 October 2020, and the residency starts from 4 January 2021.

Academy Mews Studio is offering a youth residency for artists ages 16 to 24-years old. As part of the Camden and London community, Academy Mews Studios is seeking to support more artists in the development and advancement of their creative journeys by creating a 2021 Artists Residency Programme. They hope to remove barriers for artists who cannot afford to hire the space they need. We will be providing space for 25 hours (off-peak) and 5 hours peak throughout the specified residency period, and free AMDS membership for 3 months once a final show has been held.

The application deadline is 31 October 2020, and the residency starts from 4 January 2021. This is for individual submissions only. Groups or collective submissions are not eligible for this round due to social distancing, however they hope to allow group submissions in April 2021.

London Youth is launching Rise Up – an innovative leadership programme for high-potential youth practitioners in London. Applications close on Sunday 16th August at 11pm.

London Youth, in partnership with Leap Confronting Conflict and Clore Social Leadership, is launching Rise Up – an innovative leadership programme for high-potential youth practitioners in London funded by the Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU). They are now seeking one hundred youth practitioners to take part in the first year of Rise Up.

About the programme:

-A free, innovative leadership programme for frontline youth practitioners working with young people vulnerable to violence

-Aspirational, elevating youth sector leaders as knowledgeable and trusted representatives of the communities they serve

-Accessible, aimed at those without formal youth work qualifications, with lived experience of the challenges and barriers affecting young people most at risk of violence

YCF is continuing to work closely with London Borough of Camden, sector colleagues and local businesses to join up the response and support, particularly for the most vulnerable children and young people in our borough.

Many YCF members have changed their services and operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Online services can be an effective method for continuing to engage with local children and young people in Camden. YCF invites its members to post digital projects for young people to its website.
